Because of the award-winning film Hidden Figures, many viewers learned that a genius group of black women known as "human computers" were in large part responsible for astronaut John Glenn's successful orbit around the earth. However, the film did not highlight the HBCU's the barrier breaking NASA employee's attended. Well if you didn't know, now you know that Mary Winston Jackson, beautifully portrayed by Janelle Monae in Hidden Figures, graduated from Hampton in 1942 with bachelors degrees in mathmatics, and physical science.
